It's time for another update on the dUltimate dice project. I've been working hard behind the scenes, and I'm excited to share some progress updates with you!

As some of you may remember, we encountered some unexpected issues with the first mold. Then we made a second mold hoping that it was just a one off issue of the mold itself. However news has come back from the manufacturer at this point that the failure percentage for the dice from the second mold was much higher than anticipated, which led to a lot of discussion with the manufacturer about how to proceed.
After much consideration, I've decided to take a new approach based on the professional advice from the manufacturer and other production specialists. I've created a new dUltimate dice 3D model that is larger than the previous one, which will make production much easier. The new dice size will be 46mm instead of 40mm, which is still compact, but also has the added advantage of making all the numbers easier to read.
In addition to increasing the size of the dice, I've also made some other small, nearly imperceptible changes to the model to improve production. For example, I've made slight changes to the line width and the depth of the numbers as seen above.
I'm confident that everything will work out with this new approach. In hindsight, some of the details on the first design were simply to small for consistent quality output with the casting process in mind. The larger size also gives me renewed hope that the plastic version could work as well.
I do want to acknowledge that this new approach comes with some additional costs. The price for manufacturing will be higher, and creating another new mold is also expensive. However, so far, this should just stay within the project expectations, and we're still on track to deliver the best possible dice to you!!
I want to thank everyone for all the positive vibes and feedback I've received. This part of the project has been much more difficult than I anticipated, but together, we are making this happen! I appreciate your patience and understanding as I work to bring you the dUltimate dice hopefully this Summer. Let's await this new 46mm dUltimate dice mold and if all is well then production can start and definitive dates will be available.
