dUltimate dice - Kickstarter UPDATE #83

Hi Ultimates,

Hope you're having a great week!

Project Status & Expectations

Production

THE FIRST PRODUCTION BATCH FOR DuLTIMATE DICE HAS BEEN COMPLETED! 🥳

Not only that, but the purchasing partner has dispatched their inspector to the factory and they have intensely checked over 200 dice to statistically guarantee a good overall level of quality.

Here's what all options, both painted and unpainted, look like:

dUltimate dice as of 2023 12 01

There's only one exception here; which is the Bronze unpainted style. Somehow they still got painted, but since I've only ordered 50 of those they will be remade and shipped via plane to be here at about the same time as the other dice arrive by boat.

Which is where we are now: the purchasing agent has recommended a shipping agency which is arranging the shipping, customs, and all other transport related things to get this shipment of about 2.500kg (about 5.000 lbs) of dUltimate dice this way.

Exciting!!🥳

Boxes - YOUR OPINION MATTERS!

While the dice by themselves are surely enough to be excited about - the plan was always to have these metal dUltimate dice come in a nice box for safekeeping, transport, and to showcase the dice. I thought this would be a lot easier than the dice themselves, but unfortunately the company that I had placed my trust in to be supplying all these boxes just wasn't able to produce a nice looking box that would fit well with these dice. 😥

So I've been spending the past few weeks or so contacting various 'box-making-companies' and have been requesting samples from them that would match some criteria while giving them enough room to come up with a nice design by themselves.

Here are 7 different box options from 6 different suppliers that I would be happy with to use as the final box. (more samples were requested/made, but those didn't make the cut.)

Now it's your turn:

Let me know which box is your favorite!

Options, options, options...

To break down the biggest differences:

  • Color. 1, 2, 5 are more a dark brown wood color while 3, 4, 6 are more a red-ish colored wood.

  • Texture. 2, 4, 7 really show the wood grain while 4 is also polished. 1, 3, 5, 6 all have very subtle wood grains.

  • Closing mechanism. 1, 4 use magnets. 2, 5, 6 uses a buckle. And 3, 7 clamps shut like a jewelry box.

  • I haven't had the chance to hold #7 in my hands due to a somewhat slower sample phase from this supplier - it's on it's way here now and based on the quality of the physical sample I will either keep it in the race or remove it.

That's it. Which one do you like most?

Rules/disclaimer:

You can vote for only 1 box (however ranking them is also fine - as long as you clearly name a #1 box), and you can send me your vote by placing a comment here, or by sending an e-mail to info@lenpolygon.com

I'll tally all the votes and the box with the most votes will be the box that I will order. All of these boxes will work for the dUltimate dice, so at this point it's just a matter of taste. Though multiple people might have different tastes I cannot unfortunately order different boxes for different people because these are all custom made boxes and the only thing that's keeping the price reasonable is the quantity that they'll be ordered in. Thus I cannot guarantee that your vote will end up being the box that will be procured and shipped out to you, but I can guarantee that the box will be a good match with the dice, will resemble the renderings shown on the Kickstarter page, and will be mechanically sound.
