The process of manufacturing these complex dice is taking longer than I had anticipated, but I want to keep you all informed even if I don't have a lot of news. So here's a short update while on vacation in my neighboring country: Germany. "Gutentag!"
The manufacturer is now making the molds and samples for both the plastic and metal dUltimate variants. According to their latest communication these should be ready to ship to me in about 3-4 weeks from today.
The quality requirements of the final product have been discussed in great length already, so I have a very good feeling about it.
Furthermore, both the purchasing agent and myself are focused on this project to make sure that there are no unnecessary delays and that the manufacturer is able to keep their schedule as best as possible. At the moment this mostly means that we reply to communication from the manufacturer within 24 hours such that they can continue with the correct information.
Coasters & dUltimate dice rolls
The location I'm staying at has some cork coasters with upright edges which function great as a portable dice tray... Who would've guessed?!
So I've made a few videos and photos with my own dUltimate samples (that go almost everywhere with me) to show how these simple coasters function as dice trays that both dampen the sound and keep your dice from rolling everywhere.
After a quick online search it seems that you can get these coasters at various places such as Zara.
Other dicey projects
While the manufacturer is doing their job I have just a little bit of free time again outside of my day-job and I like to use it to work on some other projects that keep my creativity and engineering ability engaged.
I will talk about this in more detail in a later post and/or on my website www.lenpolygon.com
But just to give you just the tiniest hint of one of the two dice projects I'm working on:

I hope everyone is staying safe out there and having a good time. Enjoy the summer and...
Keep on rolling!
